South Western Sydney Institute's Top Students Honoured at Gala Awards Night

27/05/2011

The Institute Achievement Awards is an annual event which acknowledges the outstanding achievements of both students and staff. It showcases the highest standards of teaching and learning, student success stories and promotes the strong relationship the Institute has with industry partners.
On the night 16 TAFE graduates were presented with Student Achievement Awards, for excellence in their area of study. Nineteen (19) students received the prestigious TAFE NSW State Medal, which are awarded to students who have achieved first place in NSW for their course.
Peter Roberts, Institute Director, congratulated the 2010 graduates on their accomplishments. He remarked that they have rightly taken their place among TAFE NSW’s highest achievers and are outstanding ambassadors for the south western Sydney region.
"As an Institute, we are proud to see our graduates going on to excel in their chosen careers or to move on to further study.
"TAFE is proud to have been a part of preparing these outstanding students for the workforce and we wish them well in their careers," said Mr Roberts.
Taking home the coveted Institute Director’s Medal was Brendon Hillsley. His strong dedication and enthusiasm for the butchery industry, and his outstanding achievements make Brendon a very deserving recipient of the prestigious award.

"The success of our students is also a testament to the commitment and professionalism of our teaching and support staff. Their hard work, innovative ideas and approaches to improving teaching and learning mean the Institute continues to excel in the region," he continued.
Approximately 400 guests including graduates, their families and representatives from industry, government and community organisations across the region joined in the celebrations.
South Western Sydney Institute would like to thank their sponsors for their generous support of the Institute Achievement Awards. A special mention must go to OPTUS, South Western Sydney Institute Student Associations, Boscotek and Fuji Xerox.
Enrolments for Semester Two courses open on Monday 27 June, 2011. For information on courses available at TAFE NSW - South Western Sydney Institute visit or phone your local college or log onto www.swsi.tafensw.edu.au .
