SWSi trio makes State Training Awards

06/08/2012

Three TAFE NSW – South Western Sydney Institute students are being congratulated for reaching the NSW Training Awards after being selected as state finalists from over 940 regional nominations across the state.

Cabinetmaking apprentice, Nathan Cardwell from Lidcombe College, will compete alongside fellow SWSi Meat Retailing (Butchery) apprentice, Eugenio Campisi from Granville College, in the Apprentice of the Year category. Trainee engineering student, Troy Durham from Granville College, will compete in the Trainee of the Year category.

They will now join the best apprentices, trainees, trainers/teachers, vocational and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, as well as the top employers, schools and training providers in the state at the presentation event on Tuesday 28 August at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

From these finalists, the state winner will be selected to represent NSW at the national Australian Training Awards later this year.

The NSW Training Awards are conducted annually by the NSW Department of Education and Communities (DEC) to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector.

The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, training organisations, large and small employers.
