Access to government funding

SWSi can play a vital support role in seeking financial incentives from government funding to lower the cost of training your workforce. Our dedicated training consultants liaise with relevant state and federal government departments to identify and support potential opportunities for financial incentives and subsidies available.

SWSi can provide access to the following government-funded incentive programs:

  • Apprenticeship and Traineeships
  • WELL – Workplace English Language and Literacy Program
  • Strategic Skills Program (SSP)
  • Critical Skills Development Fund (CSDF)
  • National Workforce Development Fund (NWDF)

Apprenticeship and Traineeship Incentives

The term "Australian Apprenticeships" covers both apprenticeships and trainees and also encompasses school-based apprentices and trainees. There are a range of subsidies and payments available to employers and apprentices. Apprenticeship and Traineeship incentives include payments for hiring mature-aged workers in skill shortage areas; incentives to offset training for existing workers and possible subsidies under the Disabled Australian Apprenticeship Wage Support (DAAWS) Program. Australian apprentices and their employers first register a contract through an Australian Apprenticeship Centre. Workplace English Language and Literacy Program (WELL)

Funding is available for training in job-related workplace language and literacy training. South Western Sydney Institute can assist you to apply for WELL funding for training to be delivered at your workplace. For further information, contact the WELL Training Consultant on (02) 9722 5451.

Strategic Skills Program (SSP)

The Strategic Skills Program responds to industry identified skill shortages through funding of part-qualification training that addresses key NSW (state and regional) skill development priorities relevant to your industry. Critical Skills Development Fund (CSDF)

Co-funding available for industry partnerships to undertake projects that provide training and employment opportunities in critical industry sectors. The CSDF places emphasis on increasing workforce particiaption by those under-represented groups such as Indigenous Australians, women, mature age or young people. National Workforce Development Fund (NWDF)

Funding to industry to support training and workforce development in areas of current and future skills need. Under the NWDF, enterprises can identify their current and future business and workforce development needs and apply for funding to support the training of existing workers and new workers in the areas of need.
