School
Did you know you can study at SWSi while still at school?
TVET (TAFE Vocational Education and Training) is a program for Year 11 and 12 school students who want to include TAFE NSW courses as part of their Higher School Certificate. This also includes School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT). Recognition for subjects completed can be counted towards your HSC and a TAFE qualification.
For more information, visit our Still in school page.
TAFE
There are courses for everyone at South Western Sydney Institute. There are courses for people who have not completed Year 10 to prepare them for work or further study, courses for people with a Year 10 or equivalent qualification and courses for people who want to get into university.

University
Studying at SWSi can help you get into university.
Arrangements are in place for TAFE NSW graduates to gain advanced standing with most NSW and ACT universities. SWSi enjoys a special relationship with a number of universities including the University of Western Sydney and Ballarat University.
You should contact the university of your choice for more details about advanced standing for your course area.
After University
After university, TAFE can play a part in your ongoing education and training.
Many students come to TAFE to further their skills and experience in the workplace or gain a qualification for skills they have already gained on the job through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Sometimes students want to learn a new skill and will choose a short course in an area they are interested in.
