Understanding the Australian Qualifications Framework and other awards that you can gain at TAFE.
TAFE Statements
A TAFE Statement is awarded for specialist courses or for courses that may be offered for a short time. These courses are not accredited but may include units from accredited courses and may offer advanced standing or credit transfer.
Statement of Attainment and accredited short courses
Statements of Attainment contain units from Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma courses.
Accredited Short Courses are usually designed for a specific purpose. They are not linked to a major course. They introduce you to an area of work or help you to gain additional skills in a particular occupation.
Certficates Levels I to Level IV
These courses provide introductory skills for some occupations (Certificate I) to more advanced skills, including supervisory skills and advanced technical skills (Certificate IV).
Diploma/Advanced Diploma
These courses prepare you for professional work requiring a broad
range of complex technical skills and in-depth knowledge. They often include training in management, planning and
evaluation, budgeting and finance as well as the knowledge and skills of the occupational area.
TAFE/University Graduate Certficate
These courses may be studied following a degree or an advanced diploma. They usually include either training to broaden your skills and knowledge gained in an undergraduate program or training in a new professional area.
