The General English Program consists of three General English courses: Certificates I and II in English for Speakers of Other Languages (CESOL)
Entry : Beginner to Intermediate.
Course Description: This program is for students who want to improve their general English language proficiency. This program is for students who want to travel in Australia or to communicate with native speakers in social or work situations. It develops basic grammar as well as the skills and confidence to communicate in English and includes:
English conversation and pronunciation
Reading
Listening
Writing and computer skills
Vocabulary and grammar
Course length : 5 - 25 weeks depending on the level of your English

Course description : This program is for students who want to communicate more effectively with native speakers at work or in social situations, or who want to prepare to study in TAFE or at a university in an English speaking country, or for the IELTS test. This program further develops general English skills and includes:
Speaking and listening
Essay writing
Assignment preparation
Seminar presentation
Students who complete this program are eligible for direct entry into TAFE NSW programs if they meet the relevant academic requirements.

High School Preparation Program
Minimum age 15 years old
This program develops skills you will need to study successfully in an Australian high school. You will study English language for key high school subjects as well as developing your English language ability through a study of themes relating to Australian culture and way of life. You will also be introduced to the Australian school system and Australian teaching and learning practices. Successful completion of this program ensures direct entry to a government high school. This Program includes:
Introduction to English Preparation for High School

Entry : Lower Intermediate to Intermediate (Students who are below lower intermediate level study a general English bridging program first.)
Course description : This program is for Intermediate level students. It teaches the language of high school subjects and introduces you to Australian teaching and learning practices. It also teaches you about Australian culture and prepares you to communicate with schoolmates in an Australian high school. It includes:
English language and study skills
English for key high school subjects
Orientation to Australian high schools
Course length : 10 weeks
Certification : Certificate in Introduction to English Preparation for High School. Students who complete this program can enrol in Year 9 or 10 at an Australian high school
English Preparation for High School (CRICOS code: 052330G)
Entry : Entry level IELTS 5 or equivalent.
Course description : This program is for Intermediate to upper intermediate students who want to study for the Higher School Certificate in an Australian high school or in TAFE NSW, or for the TAFE NSW Certificate in Tertiary Preparation. It develops at a higher level knowledge and skills included in the Introduction to English Preparation for High School. It includes:
English language and study skills
English for key high school subjects
Orientation to the Higher School Certificate
Course length : 10 weeks
Certification : Certificate in English Preparation for High School. Students who complete this program can enrol in Year 11 at an Australian high school.
IELTS Preaparation (Certificate III Preparation for IELTS/CULT)

Course description : This course provides students with the English language skills necessary to sit for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or other English language tests that are recognised for entry into University or other tertiary courses. Skills developed include:

Entry : Students aged 15 and above
Cultural Study tours : TIEC offers overseas students the opportunity to arrive on a Study Tour. Study Tours are very exciting and give students the chance to learn or improve their English and see the beautiful sites of Sydney and New South Wales. We can cater for all types of groups, no matter the size and for any period of time.
Vocational Study tours : Intensive English language programs can be combined with training and international business.
Course length : 1-8 weeks
Certification : Statement of Attainment (These courses are not accredited or approved for holders of student visas)
English and Internships
Entry : Students aged 18+.
Course description : TIEC gives you the opportunity to improve your English and undertake an Internship in Australia. Internships are unpaid professional placements. Your experience will begin with one of TIEC's English courses where you will develop the confidence to embark on your internship.
Course length : Up to 12 months - TIEC English course minimum 5 weeks + Internship minimum 4 weeks
Certification : Statement of Attainment (This course is not accredited or approved for holders of student visas)
Packaged courses
We encourage you to apply for a packaged course which includes English plus a TAFE NSW Certificate or Diploma. In doing so, you get a long term visa and avoid having to apply for a new visa. International students are allowed to obtain a packaged visa if they pay the full amount of the English studies plus the first semester's fees of their TAFE NSW course.
